Leland Tyler Wayne, known as Metro Boomin, was born in 1993 in St. Louis, Missouri, and began making music at 13 after his supportive mother bought him a laptop and FL Studio software. 

Initially aspiring to rap, he shifted focus to music production and started networking with artists via social media while in high school. His mother drove him from St. Louis to Atlanta to collaborate with artists like Tay Don, OJ da Juiceman, Gucci Mane, and Future, forming lasting partnerships! 

After graduating high school, he planned to study business but then dedicated himself fully to music. 

2. Career Breakthrough 

From 2013 to 2016, Metro Boomin was on fire! 

He dropped his debut mixtape, 19 & Boomin, featuring the banger “Maison Margiela” with Future. Teaming up with Young Thug for the mysterious Metro Thuggin project and producing Nicki Minaj’s “Want Some More,” he made waves.  

As the mastermind behind Future’s Monster and Drake and Future’s What a Time to Be Alive, he delivered chart-topping hits like “F**k Up Some Commas” and “Jumpman.”  

By 2016, he earned Producer of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards and left us vibing hits like “Bad and Boujee,” “Low Life,” and the iconic Savage Mode EP with 21 Savage. 

Metro Boomin published Not All Heroes Wear Capes in 2018, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200. He co-produced hits for artists like The Weeknd, Offset, and Drake, and released Savage Mode II with 21 Savage, which also debuted at #1.  

By 2021, Metro was celebrated for his production and collaborations, securing his place in the industry.
