What is Sandbox Swapmeet?

Sandbox Swapmeet started as a community event and grew into the Middle East’s premier pop culture meet-up. Every volume gets bigger. Vol. 8 brings together over 40 communities spanning TCG, anime, LEGO, K-Pop, comics, cosplay, retro gaming, sneakers, and more.

It’s free entry. All ages welcome. Whether you’re a hardcore collector or just curious about the scene, there’s something here for you

What’s happening at Vol. 8

This isn’t just a swap meet. The event is packed with activities running throughout the day:

• TCG Tournaments — Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, MTG, Star Wars, and more. Casuals and competitive rounds all day.
• Cosplay Battle — A showcase of fan-made costumes competing.
• K-Pop Dance Fest — Random dance challenges and performances hosted by the Ixies community.
• LEGO Display — AFOL Middle East showcasing full-scale MOC builds.
• Beyblade X — BlockVault hosts live Beyblade X battles.
• Tamiya Fun Race — RC car racing hosted by Otaku ME.
• Artist Alley — Independent UAE-based artists selling original prints, stickers, and commissions.

For the collectors

This is where Sandbox really shines. The trading floor is stacked with vendors covering everything from graded Pokémon cards to vintage toys, Funko Pops, One Piece figures, Hot Wheels, manga, and anime merchandise. You’ll find rare finds you won’t see anywhere else in the UAE.

If you’re planning to trade or buy on the day, come prepared. Bring your collection, know what you’re looking for, and get there early — the best stuff goes fast.

For the TCG players

The Card Trade Show at Sandbox is one of the best places in the UAE to trade, buy, and play. Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, MTG, One Piece, Star Wars: Unlimited, Alpha Clash — all represented. Whether you’re grinding ranked or just looking to complete a set, you’ll find other players who care as much as you do.

For the cosplayers

The Cosplay Battle is one of the event’s highlights. Whether you’re competing or just showing up in costume, the energy on the floor is like nothing else. Costumes range from painstakingly detailed builds to casual character outfits — all welcome.

Tips for the best experience

Get there early. The best vendor deals and rarest finds are gone by midday. Doors open — you want to be there.

Bring cash. Most vendors at swap meets prefer it. Some may have card machines, but don’t count on it.

Know what you’re hunting. The floor is massive. Have a shortlist so you don’t leave without what you came for.

Wear comfortable shoes. Dubai World Trade Centre is a big venue. You’ll be walking and standing all day.

Take your time at Artist Alley. The independent artists here are genuinely talented. Worth slowing down for.
