Ricky Martin’s Early life
Enrique Martin Morales, better known as Ricky Martin, was born in Puerto Rico in the early 1970s. Little Ricky’s passion for music started when he was just 6, and his family strongly supported him, especially his mother’s side of the family, as his maternal grandfather was a poet.

At the age of 9, Ricky had already started appearing in TV commercials for Burger King, toothpaste companies, and soft drinks. In one year, he appeared in nine commercials!
Following his success in Puerto Rican TV ads, Ricky Martin auditioned multiple times for the boy band Menudo, but he was initially rejected because of his short height. In 1984, when he turned 12, he was accepted into the group, replacing Ricky Melendez.
Rise to Fame
Ricky became a fan favourite in the boy band Menudo and contributed to 11 albums, one of which is a Grammy-nominated album, Evolucion. He left the band in 1989 and moved to New York after graduating high school to explore his next career steps, which included acting and singing.
While pursuing his acting career, Ricky Martin simultaneously recorded music, gaining fame in Puerto Rico and the Latin community. His solo debut album, Ricky Martin (1988), was followed by Me Amaras (1989) and A Medio Vivir (1997). His hit “La Copa de la Vida” from Vuelve (1998) catapulted him to global fame after a 1998 World Cup performance.
He achieved mainstream success with “Livin’ La Vida Loca” (1999), making him a pop sensation.
