Lang Lang’s Early Life 

Meet Lang Lang, the talented pianist who was born on June 14, 1982. His journey began at the age of three, when he discovered his love for the piano. With fingers dancing over the keys, he captured the attention of musicians and educators alike, showcasing an extraordinary talent that set him apart from his peers.  

By five, he was already performing for audiences, and with formal training from his father and later at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music, Lang laid a strong foundation for what would become a remarkable career.  

Lang Lang’s Rise to Fame 

Lang Lang’s big break came in 1999 at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois, when he stepped in on short notice instead of André Watts, who was ill on that day. And little did Lang Lang know that this moment was a life-changing one for him!  

His stunning rendition of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra earned him rave reviews and made him famous overnight. 

Lang Lang quickly became a sought-after artist for major events, including the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony and Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012.  

He also surprised fans by collaborating with unexpected partners like the heavy metal band Metallica at the 2014 Grammy Awards and Pharrell Williams at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
